I’ve come pretty much full circle on New Years. I was crabby about it for a while — why this one silly arbitrary day? Why not make meaningful changes every day?
But I’ve come around on it, as a kind of “well, why not that day” sort of thing. Sure, it’s arbitrary and over-marketed and a bit silly. Then again, if you’re going to make changes somewhen, it might as well be the first day of a new year. I’m getting older and more conservative, and sentimental, I guess.
After a few days of indulgence, though, I’m not going to let that put off some good decisions in the interim. I have eaten well over the past few days. It’s time to have a day of salads and beans just to reset the old gut.
So it’s solid diet decisions today, and on to food logging again. Bah. No fun. But Christmas is over, Boxing Day is here, and it’s time to start making the transition into the new year easier on myself.
